The Gerber Dime takes the standard keychain multi-tool and makes it better.
A pliers-based multitool, the Dime's handles fit great in both small and large hands and the spring-loaded pliers are incredibly precise. Just including the utility tools you really need and would want to carry on a keychain, the Dime's rounded corners prevent it from catching on your pants or causing wear when being pulled out over and over again. And if you're cautious about the bottle opener being permanently "out" at the base of the tool, we never noticed it as in the way.
In addition to stainless steel pliers, wire cutters, a fine edge blade, spring-loaded scissors, flathead screwdriver, crosshead driver, tweezers and file, the Dime includes a unique blade designed to safely cut and score plastic packaging. This is really what sets The Dime apart from other keychain multitools. The "retail package opener" is designed to ride underneath "clam shell" packaging (the annoying packaging all of us have tried to open before), cutting the puffy top from the hard plastic backing. It works incredibly well and having a tool like this in your EDC so you can get it when you need it is very helpful.
The rest of the tools are also focused around a true, everyday carry multitool. There is a pair of tweezers tucked into the aluminum handle scales, the pliers have wirecutters at the bottom and the Dime includes a fine and coarse file. There are 10 total tools, hence the name "Dime."
Compact and lightweight, the Dime is one of the most useful tools for the money.
