Rick Hinderer began making knives in a small turkey coop back in the 1980’s. As a firefighter and EMT, he created knives as tools to be used, not just works of art. The Rick Hinderer XM-18 embodies that, as it’s a no-nonsense tool that is reliable, efficient and ready for day-to-day tasks.
The XM-18 Slippy is a great solution for those folks with more restrictive knife regulations. With a 3.0" blade that offers both maximum cutting potential as well as compact convenience, it’s thickness is a full .108". The oversize choil allows you to choke up on the blade for more precise work while the jimping helps maintain a positive grip. The adjustable thumb disc provides easy deployment with either hand. The thumb disc can be adjusted along the track on the spine of the blade with a provided hex wrench or it can be totally removed. This adjustability allows the user to find the sweet spot in terms of blade deployment.
Hinderer pivots are machined on a state-of-the-art CNC turning center, guaranteeing precise accuracy. The pivot is a .25” in barrel diameter with a 0.375” head. The pivot is drilled and tapped completely through and is mated with an in-house designed screw, making for an incredibly strong pivot that is easy to adjust in the field. The titanium pocket clip can be mounted tip up or tip down for your preferred carry. The textured black G-10 scales help ensure a good purchase while in hand.
