Option Gray's founder Cody set out to find the perfect leather wallet. Nothing seemed to fit the bill (pun intended), so he turned to Huntsville, Alabama's Makers South to create one from scratch. Five long months and three prototypes later, it was finally done. It hasn't left his pocket since and we are stoked to offer a very small batch in the shop.
What makes this the ideal leather notebook wallet? It all starts with leather from Horween Leather Company, in business since 1905. Still tanned by hand on the corner of Elston and Ashland in Chicago, Illinois, the leather is 3.5/4.0 oz Nut Brown Dublin vegetable tanned leather. Its high oil content ages beautifully over time, making it the ideal choice for a wallet, which must be durable and be able to withstand daily use.
Cut and sewn by hand with cream-colored waxed thread, the Option Gray Leather Notebook Wallet features a sleeve on the right which fits most standard 3.5" x 5.5" notebooks, like those from Field Notes or Word. Notebooks. The left has a full-width slot, perfect for keeping cash and receipts put away. Sewn on top of the full-width slot are three additional slots, two which fit your driver's license, credit/debit cards, and insurance card perfectly. The smaller slot in the center can hold a small pen, one-piece multi-tool (OPMT), emergency cash, or anything else that could be helpful to have in your Primary EDC at all times.
